Project Locations: The project will cover Mullaitivu, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Kurunegala, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.


Job Profile

The Project Manager of the Building Resilience and Strengthening Community Disaster Preparedness Project in Sri Lanka is responsible for providing overall strategic and operational leadership to develop, implement and manage the grant project which is implemented in several locations in the country in accordance with grant contract and compliance to achieve the overall project goal.


Major Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee grant planning, implementation, and monitoring and ensure that all strategic objectives are met through proper design, staffing, and quality assurance.
  • Provide critical guidance in enabling understanding, operationalizing, monitoring, and managing the grant proposal and grant compliance with support from the Grant team and project liaisons.
  • Closely collaborate with the project’s partners, stakeholders, and consultants, etc. to ensure the achievement of each milestone effectively.
  • Develop networks and maintain relationships with relevant Government Departments, local & international partners and World Vision Lanka (WVL) Area Programme (AP)s and WVL departments to obtain necessary services/ support for project implementation and represent the organization in all relevant internal & external meetings.
  • Ensure effective and efficient Donor correspondence.
  • Ensure all assessments, baseline and evaluations are done following the set standards of the project in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate information is provided to produce high-quality reports.
  • Train project staff on all standards, policies, and guidelines on a regular basis.
  • Strong working relationships with relevant internal key stakeholders.


Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • At least 10 years of experience in Community Development, Programme/ Project Management or Coordination in a complex, international organization preferably in the INGO context.
  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development Studies, or Community Development.
  • Knowledge and experience in capacity building for local stakeholders/partners in relation to DRR, community resilience, and Livelihood.
  • Experience in program implementation, community mobilization, and participatory approach would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work in stressful environments with physical hardship conditions with limited resources. Travel to National Office and to other AP offices within the project area in a need basis will be required.
  • Written and oral communication skills in Sinhala/ Tamil and English.
