We are seeking for a Metadata Analyst, the role involves managing and analyzing metadata, which is essential information about data assets, such as databases, files, and data models. The metadata Analyst will be responsible for creating, maintaining or curating metadata repositories, ensuring data lineage and cataloging data assets for easy accessibility and understanding.
Collaborating with data stakeholders, as an analyst will identify and resolve metadata discrepancies and inconsistencies, and supporting data governance initiatives. Expertise in metadata management and data documentation will play a crucial role in optimizing data discovery, promoting data reuse, and enhancing overall data management practices within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Metadata Management: Create, capture, and maintain metadata for various data assets, including databases, data models, reports, and data sets. This involves defining metadata standards, structures, and taxonomies.
- Data Lineage and Mapping: Establish data lineage by tracing the origin and transformation of data elements throughout the data lifecycle. Create mappings between different data sources and ensure accurate representation in metadata repositories.
- Data Cataloging: Catalog and index metadata in centralized repositories or metadata management tools, making it easily searchable and accessible to data users and stakeholders.
- Metadata Integration: Integrate metadata across various data platforms and systems to provide a holistic view of data assets and facilitate data discovery and reuse.
- Documentation and Communication: Document metadata processes, standards, and changes, and communicate metadata-related information to relevant stakeholders effectively.
- Data Compliance and Security: Ensure that metadata complies with data privacy and security regulations, protecting sensitive information from unauthorized access.
- Data Analysis and Impact Assessment: Analyze metadata to identify relationships between data elements, understand data dependencies, and assess the impact of changes on downstream systems.
- Data Integration and Interoperability: Collaborate with data integration teams to ensure that metadata is appropriately integrated into data integration processes, enabling seamless data flow across systems.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to educate data users and stakeholders on metadata best practices and its importance in data management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required / Post Graduate Degree is preferred
- 3 -5 years experience in Metadata, Data Catalog, Data Definitions, Data quality and other related fields
- CIMP in MetaData Management or equivalent certification is a plus but not required
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Good in business analysis
- Technical skills must have: SQL, Excel, CDGC or any data governance tool is a plus, data definitions, data lineage
