As part of our exciting expansion, we are building a new development team in Sri Lanka and are looking for a talented Senior PHP Backend Developer to join our global team.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in building our world-class sports platform and supporting users across diverse regions. As a Senior PHP Backend Developer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that address real-world challenges in the sports industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and transform requirements into effective solutions.
- Develop creative solutions for complex problems with a focus on security, performance, and scalability.
- Foster a positive team environment and support other team members in achieving shared goals.
- Write modular, reusable, and maintainable code.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of code and processes.
- Contribute to planning, including timelines and deliverables.
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive knowledge of Object-Oriented PHP.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, principles, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with MVC frameworks like Symfony or Laravel (minimum 4+ years of Laravel experience required).
- Expertise in building and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Ability to write modular, reusable code independent of frameworks.
- Proficient in database architecture and implementation.
- Advanced knowledge of MySQL and familiarity with non-relational databases (Redis).
- Experience with unit testing using PHPUnit.
- Good understanding of web security issues and mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in HTML/CSS.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Experience in developing RESTful Web Services.
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts and tools (experience with AWS is a plus).
- Understanding of performance and scalability issues and solutions.
